John Griffin, (80), is now calling on people from across Bristol and North Somerset to join him at the event which is taking place at the health club and spa, Cadbury House in Congresbury on Saturday 30 September.
Rasing money for the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity as well as the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, John is hoping to raise £15,000 which will be spilt equally between each charity.
A spin enthusiast, John teaches his own regular classes and is keen for anyone who wants to take part to get in touch and give it a go.
The peddling will start at 8am and continue through to 8pm with slots being allocated on a one-hour basis. Participants can however take up as many one-hour slots as they wish, meaning those brave enough can take part for the full 12 hours!
With 25 spin bikes available means there are 300 slots up for grabs with anyone taking part being asked to donate £10 which is a flat rate for one hour or up to the maximum 12. The remaining fundraising will be through sponsorship and donations on the day.
Commenting on the event John said: “I’ve been a keen spin cyclist for many years so is the obvious thing to do to raise not only awareness but money for these two incredible charities.
“Anyone can take part and can choose a single slot or as many as they want. They can also go as fast or slow as they wish.
“I’m sure as well there are many people who have personally or know someone who has been helped by the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is world renowned for its help with young people suffering from cancer.
“I do have a personal connection with the Royal Marsden as my granddaughter, who is 13 years old, is currently undergoing treatment having been diagnosed back in May, so is certainly close to the heart.
“All monies will be split fifty, fifty so we want to raise as much as possible and we’re also hoping that anyone who visits during the day will pop any spare change into collection buckets adding to the overall total.”
Those wishing to take part can either email John directly or pop to the club and spa at Cadbury House in Congresbury and place their name on the main sheet in reception.
